What I did first was sketch some things that would be interesting to draw. The ideas I had were palm trees in a beach, a bird's side view with a tree in the background, some type of umbrella thing, a flower with leaves around it, and the same picture of the flower but with a butterfly.
For this project, I decided to draw the flower with the leaves because it has a lot of interesting negative shapes. What inspired me to draw this was the Pinterest inspiration board. There were several different pictures of leaves that I thought were cool. These artists kept the background black which is something I plan to change on my drawing. What shows my creativity for this topic is that I'm going to overlap two different pictures. One is going to have white positive space and the one under that is going to be painted.
Two of my ideas connect to my life because the flower and leaves idea came from a picture of my carpet and the umbrella thing idea comes from a picture I took in my grandma's house. The other ideas are just things that I thought of. They don't relate to any other thing.
What shaped my decision making was my interpretation of the assignment. I was mostly thinking of positive spaces that had to be white which is what I'll kind of do in one part of my project.
My goal for this piece is to get the background to look good and not just a whole bunch of leaves random leaves. I also want to successfully show the mood of it with the colors I use.
