Project 4: Time Is Running Out
Chalk Pastels
December 2014 Drawing With the death of someone I know, I thought about what death is and was inspired to draw this. Death is something a lot of people are scared of when in reality it's not something scary. I think we shouldn't be scared of it because death is something that will happen to all of us and will get to us sooner or later. As every minute passes, death is getting closer and closer to us. We should all try to enjoy life and be the best we can be because time is running out. |
Project 3: My Town
Water colors, colored pencils
November 2014 Drawing My hometown is the place where I've lived the happiest moments I've had in my life so far. Being in Nochistlan, Zacatecas or even just looking at a picture of it instantly makes me feel happy. Looking at this church reminds me of all the times I've been there but also the memories I've had in Mexico. I see this place and think of how beautiful it is to me. It is the perfect place for me, but unfortunately, I have to wait for a long time until I can be there again. For now, remembering the memories I've had in Mexico make me very happy and this piece reminds me of them a lot. |
Project 2: Flowers and Leaves
Paint
October 2014 Drawing It may probably seem amazing to know that the white space of my piece is a part of a carpet that I have in my room. It is only a small part of a carpet that has a lot of awesome details that can't just stay on the floor. I decided to draw it because it seemed to me that it was something too nice to just be on the carpet. I have always loved this carpet because it gives my room some kind of weird peace. Flowers always make me think of peaceful places, partly like my room. This piece is something that I really like because it shows part of a random carpet with flowers that people probably wouldn't give a lot of attention to. It also shows that something so simple, like a carpet, can be something nice. |
Project 1: That One Trophy
Pencil, red and black pens
September 2014 Drawing Sometimes, an object is more valuable when it has a meaning to you. The trophy I drew is very important to me. The memory I have of competing in an eighth grade History Quiz Bowl inspired me to draw this. Whenever I see this trophy, it reminds me of the day of the competition. I remember the excitement I felt before the competition and how proud I was of getting second place. Every time I see the trophy, I automatically go back to that moment and feel excited again. I remember it was a very nice experience to be in it and compete against three boys. Being the only girl competing was very intimidating but also made it even more exciting. This trophy is always going to remind me of that nice memory. |
